March 27, 2025 @ 4:00PM (after school)
We were hoping to get in a qualifying flight or two. At the last minute we got permission to use the Lynden field again and switched to it.
- Back to Lynden field.
- Mostly average weather. Partly cloudy.
- When we got there the wind was fine, <5mph, but by the time we got out there and fixed the rail it was pretty consistently almost 10 (forecasted to be ~6)
- 62°F
- 29.54" baro (low for Lynden)
- Eggs: both about 57.5g.
- We switched to a special 17" Top Flight Recovery parachute (from an 18" one) because in the past our descent rate was a little slow.
- CTI 50F51-6A
- 599g
Results:
- 757'
- 40 seconds (we think descent rate is fine just we weren't as high so we didn't go as long)
- The eggs always survived of course.
- The gap between the transition and upper body tube was bigger than normal because over time the holes for the rivets in the balsa transition got too big so the rivets were very loose
- 14-12.pf2
The weather was just worse than we expected, we think that's why we didn't go as high as we wanted so we decided to just wait and not do more until Sunday when it was supposed to be better weather. Another thing is we realized that even though the Silver Lake field is farther away (up in the foothills), because it's between two mountains/hills the weather should be better.
Thanks to my younger brother for the photos at the launch today.
